The 3C’s principles
Competence
Competence and excellence come with hard work, deliberate effort, time, and a desire to grow and learn. This is why we put emphasis on effort as much as on natural talent. We believe and invest in your capabilities and reward passion with professional opportunities.
1
Confidence
We invest in our people, equipping them with the tools they need to master their roles and build stronger relations at work and in life. This knowledge breeds confidence, with transferable skills that stand the test of time.
2
Challengers
We embrace difference and seek those who question and challenge the status quo. We don’t take things as given, we seek to understand the why and always look for how it can be better. Our people are never afraid to suggest new ideas and come up with inventive ways to improve our processes.

Cluster General Manager
How long have you worked in Hospitality?
I started helping out in a friends B & B 39 years ago when I was 16, and was working behind a bar on my 18th birthday.
What would a typical day look like at work?
Arrive and generally stopping to chat by at least two staff members before getting to the office. Have a quick walk through the hotel checking the breakfast team and quality, if conferences on meet and greet the organisers. Once in the office check the night reports, figures, then start on the emails. Have daily chat with Revenue / Reservations teams to look at business and pick up, then sit with conference teams to look at new enquiries coming through. Really exciting times here with BGAM as since arriving there has always been a project on so from completing the refurbishment of the Conference centre my focus is on the upcoming room refurbishment.
What do you love / or are proud of most at BGAM?
As mentioned above BGAM get things done. We may have a chat in the morning about an idea someone has had, by the end of the day budget approved for implementation, so working in a dynamic organisation means you never have the same day twice.
What is your best tip/s – something you learnt on the job?
Never drop your standards however over the years you have to adapt to the environment you are working in and bring the team along with you. Lead by example and nevre ask someone to do something you wouldn’t or haven’t done yourself.

How long have you worked in Hospitality?
11 years.
What would a typical day look like at work?
There is nothing typical about my days. Every day is something different, and that is the beauty of what I do.
What do you love / or are proud of most at BGAM?
I’m very proud and very grateful for the amazing team that we have built at Delta MK and the journey that we have been on to get to where we are now. I love the fact that BGAM offers the council of talent, this is a group of team members from each hotel exploring new avenues for the hotel group including things such as menu development, Conference and Events execution, down to the break offerings and service style. It is a great way for all of our hotels to get together and get involved in tasks that wouldn’t necessarily involve the members of the council in their day to day job roles. It’s a great way to build a support systems within the company and with our colleagues and gain a wealth of experience from the company General Manager’s and Directors.
What is your best tip/s – something you learnt on the job?
You have to learn to ride the wave, it won’t always be easy but there is an end to each day and every new day brings new opportunities.

How long have you worked in Hospitality?
Coming from a family of hoteliers I have been in and around this great industry for most of my life.
What would a typical day look like at work?
It all starts as soon as I wake up by checking the figures from the day before so I have a feel of the business before I arrive. Once on site I generally make sure I catch up with the team and then settle into my day. I try to work to a broad ‘to do’ list but anyone in hospitality knows this goes out the window within minutes. My main emphasis most days is to make sure my senior team at both properties are focused on our short and medium term goals to hopefully improve the business day by day.
What do you love / or are proud of most at BGAM?
What I love most about the company is the trust from the ownership to manage your own business, which is why I have been with BGAM over 4yrs. Having worked for other management companies you don’t feel in charge of your own destiny, with all decisions being made by a bloated management structure giving you no responsibility but all accountability when things go wrong. In my role as cluster GM I have full autonomy and trust from the owners to deliver on KPIs how I see fit but still with the support structure to call on when I need it. This is how I feel hotels’ should be run and is the main reason why I want to develop the business and grow with it.
What is your best tip/s – something you learnt on the job?
As you move up the business never forget the staff who helped get you there. The more senior you are the more your success is judged based on the hard work of your team from the most senior HOD, right down to the most junior position. You should therefore be humble, treat everyone equally and take an interest in all who work for you, because when the hotel is in a tight spot they will be the ones who make you a success or failure.
